Interested in teaching at Bella Mente Montessori Academy?

Requirements:

  • Baccalaureate degree

  • Professional Clear or Intern California State Teaching Credential (Teacher can begin California Credential Intern program their first year at Bella Mente fulfilling this requirement)

  • Montessori Certification from a Montessori Accreditation Committee for Teacher Education (MACTE) approved program (AMS, AMI, NCME, etc.) appropriate to age level being taught; AMS preferred.

  • Current California First Aid and CPR Training

  • Minimum of 5 years Montessori classroom teaching experience preferred

Major areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:

  • Understanding and promoting the school’s vision, mission, and goals to students, parents, and community.

  • Working with the community of administrators, teachers, parents, students, and board of directors, in articulating and maintaining the integrity and scope of the Montessori method.

  • Preparing the Montessori classroom environment to meet the students’ needs and interests.

  • Presenting consistent individual and group lessons to the students and supporting each child’s direction and success.

  • Meeting regularly with students to work with them in assessing their own success and facilitating an individual path of progress.

  • Working with students of varying abilities assigned to the classroom, including those with learning difficulties as diagnosed, as well as attending meetings to support children who require it.

  • Maintaining student records, reports, evaluations, inventories, and tests.

  • Participate in field trips and overnights if necessary.

  • Attending board meetings, committee, and any other meetings relevant to teaching as necessary.

  • Continuing professional development and participating in recommended conferences, training programs, courses, and other areas of professional growth.

Interested in working as a teaching assistant at Bella Mente Montessori Academy?

Requirements:

Minimum qualifications for application:

  • Candidates should have experience working with students in a classroom setting.

  • High School diploma with 60 college units or AA degree or better. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Montessori training and experience desired. Montessori certification or assistant’s certification preferred.

  • ATTENTION CREDENTIALED TEACHERS: Working as a Montessori teaching assistant is a great way to determine if the Montessori classroom is right for you before pursuing Montessori certification.

Major areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:

The instructional assistant assists the teacher in improving the quality of educational opportunities, supervision of students, and instructional tasks which, in the judgment of the teacher, may be performed by a non-credentialed employee. The work need not be performed in the presence of the teacher, but the teacher retains responsibility for instruction and supervision.

​

Instructional Assistants work part-time, Monday through Friday, 20-30 hours per week, depending on the grade level assignment. Most assignments commonly scheduled from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
