Dear Parents,
You may have noticed something different about our dismissal. Yes, it was much quieter than normal, in fact it was silent. You may be wondering about this new dismissal process and I wanted to take a moment to explain the change and also commend your fantastic students for a job well done.
Over the past few weeks we have noticed an increase in unacceptable behaviors during dismissal. These include, but are not limited to students jumping from tables in the picnic area, students playing basketball/soccer/gaga ball and students not listening for their names. As a result, we have a longer dismissal process. At Bella Mente, we believe in RRSP- Respect, Responsibility, Safety and Productivity. We believe these should be followed in every decision we make-including our dismissal process. In order to ensure student safety and respect the time of our families and staff, we will have a silent dismissal daily. These have been the most peaceful dismissals we have experienced in years. We are able to safely and quickly dismiss students faster then ever before. In fact, on the first day, all student names were called by 3:17, just 7 minutes following our final dismissal bell!
I am incredibly proud of our staff and students for successfully conducting our first silent dismissal. However, we must continue to remind our students of this expectation. Please talk to your children about this process and remind them to listen for their names. If you have any questions regarding our school policies and procedures, please contact me at cmccraw@bellamentecharter.org.

P.S. We had 100% dress code compliance Tuesday! Go BMMA Leopards! This week is a free dress week for all students!
Sincerely,
Carrie McCraw
Principal
