Mr. Hank's Corner 2/11/19

Last week we began Bella Boot Camp for the staff here at BMMA. This is a great opportunity for not only to get staff moving but to hopefully want to get our staff together for a monthly fun & challenging time out on the turf as well as a chance to build great relationship with one another. Andy from 181 Fitness will orchestrate this fun class monthly. www.181fitness.com

We were lucky enough to have Andy come out and talk for a few minutes at our last staff meeting on an important topic about how to prioritize you. Andy touched on finding happiness, stating long term goals, and owning how you move. I felt this was quite important because as we get older and move less it is so easy to get injured doing something as simple as getting a can out of a cabinet in your kitchen. Functional training is as important as eating right and living a successful life with your goals you set. We are sure the New England Patriots didn’t set out a goal in the beginning of their football season to be runner’s up in the Super Bowl. In order to succeed Andy mentioned you have to have clarity on WHAT you are actually trying to achieve. When writing down long-term goals start with a short-term goal first and look at the bigger picture. One thing we in education tend to forget is how to take of ourselves because we are so focused on taking care of the children and others. However, taking care of yourself IS taking care of others. It is like when you are on an airplane and the flight attendants always say to put your oxygen mask on first before helping others or the person next to you. Same concept. You can only control what you can control but you do need to realize how much control you actually have. Finally always be grateful. The littlest things can help you have a healthy mind, body and soul.

So now that the Super Bowl has passed what will your goals be in 2019? How will you begin to prioritize you? What

Patriots

will you be grateful for in 2019? So many questions yet remember you are in control of your goals and can achieve any of them if you want to.

Love Your Heart takes place here on campus for our staff on February 14 between 11 am- 1 pm in the staff lounge. This is FREE Blood Pressure Screening for all Staff. What a great way to start taking care of yourself. Did you know sodium is found in so many of the foods we eat especially when you eat those foods that are packaged to be quick snacks. It is also hidden in many

foods and you may not even know it. Here is a link from Scripps Health to read a little more on sodium. https://www.scripps.org/news_items/4199-top-ten-surprising-sources-of-sodium

This is just one way Bella Mente is working towards building a healthier community and by doing so we are leading the way to healthier Bella Leopards. #LiveWellSD #bloodpressure #LEAPLeopards

Soups and Stews is what’s on the menu this February 21, 2019 with Cooking it Up with Mr. Hank. I look forward to showing a simple soup, a great Irish vegetable stew, and how easy it is to make your vegetable stock with leftover veggies. Maybe this is a goal of yours and it is to eat healthier. Keep food simple and when making it healthy it doesn’t need much. Good food is a right and not a privilege so learning how to make it simple, healthy and fun with the family will help make life long goals potentially attainable. Sure that family meal at the drive thru might seem like a simple and easy fix for a once and a while dinner or perhaps your only option but long term not a viable solution to a healthy lifestyle. Make 2019 a healthy one and remember taking care of YOU first is taking care of others.

With a green thumb,

Mr. Hank Stelzl
