On Wednesday January 17, 2018 I held the first Health Wellness Committee meeting for 2018. There was an amazing presentation from Angela Livingston on a “Healthy Gut.” Some refer to our gut as our second brain. Did you know that there are 10 trillion cells that make up the human body? Also, within our body there is 100 trillion microbial cells outnumbering us 10:1. These were just some of the neat facts discussed.
Had a chance to taste a Kim-chi. You may wonder what is Kim-chi? Well, you know that Napa Cabbage you see at Frazier Farms and never knew what to do with besides chop it up and throw it into a wok smothered with soy sauce? Well, now with that Napa Cabbage you could make something that is not only tasty, once made can stay in your fridge for months, but is essential for your second brain to function optimal. Here's a short list of Kim-chi facts:

Kim-chi, a staple in Korean cuisine, is a traditional side dish made from salted and fermented vegetables, most commonly Napa cabbage and Korean radishes, with a variety of seasonings including chili powder, scallions, garlic, ginger, and jeotgal.
Kim-chi is a fermented blend of cabbage, chili peppers, garlic, scallions, and other spices often eaten with every meal in Korea.
Kim-chi is rich in vitamins A and C, and due to its fermentation process is also rich in beneficial gut-boosting lactobacilli bacteria.
If you are interested in learning more from this presentation Ms. Livingston said she would be happy to again present this information at our next Health Wellness Committee meeting.
