Mr. Hank's Corner 6/11/18

I wanted to let you know of a new workshop opportunity coming up this month! I Love A Clean San Diego has partnered with the City of Carlsbad to host a free workshop on sustainability!

If you want to dive deeper into the world of zero waste join us on Saturday June 23rd from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM! ILACSD is hosting a FREE family friendly ‘Seaside Sustainability’ workshop at the Dove Library. Learn how to implement sustainability success in your everyday life! We will be focusing on how to reduce your waste in three specific areas: in the kitchen, in the bathroom, and while ‘on the go’. All you need to do is register!

Great Outdoors Month®

June is a special time to celebrate America's great outdoors. What started as Great Outdoors Week under President Clinton in 1998 has grown significantly under the Trump, Obama and Bush administrations into a month-long celebration of the outdoors and all the healthful, social and economic benefits it brings. This June, celebrate the natural wonder and outdoor spirit of America by getting outside during Great Outdoors Month®. Once you Escape the Indoors, you’ll never want to go back.

If any of your summer plans revolve around these activities, here are 6 ways you can ensure you stay healthy.

  1. Apply Your Daily SPF. No one likes a sunburn and no one likes those funky tan lines. ...

  2. Embrace "Healthier" Barbeques. ...

  3. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate. ...

  4. Travel Light. ...

  5. Eat Breakfast! ...

  6. Avoid Over-Intoxication.

Stay healthy over summer and keep active. If you were from Upper Elementary maybe you will want to try out some those recipes that came in your cookbook this year. Whatever it is you choose to do be safe and most of all enjoy, be kind to others, and stay organic.

If you are interested in helping out over the summer in the school gardens I will have many projects to help guide us into the next school year from building benches, fixing fences, mulching the campus and so much more. I could reached at hstelzl@bellamentecharter.org

Have an awesome summer everyone and “Thank you to all the kiddos.” You made this a great year down in the garden. Couldn’t have done it without you.

With a greens thumb always,

Mr. Hank
