Mr. Hank's Corner 10/23/18

From October 23-31st it is Red Ribbon Week. I like to send a message of healthiness to our students here at BMMA and the things you could do to make your life healthier. This could be as simple as putting wholesome foods into your body instead of processed foods.

Red Ribbon Week has a long history dating back into the 80’s so if you like to learn more about this campaign and hold discussions at home about drug free living please go to the website to learn more. Here is the link where you could also take a pledge together for a healthier lifestyle.

Last week was a fun time in the nutrition lab especially with Mr. B’s Upper El class. We connected the dots of Native American studies with eating foods that they may have grown as well as a real important crop; corn.

Want to volunteer but not sure some of the times or need more info to help in the garden. Here is our signup link. Also, you could send an email to Bonnie Sanchez at bonnieksanchez@yahoo.com also follow The Bella Garden Project Facebook page at www.facebook.com/The-Bella-Garden-Project-at-Bella-Mente-Montessori-623513017765041/?ref=bookmarks

Like listening to great talks like I do on an early Saturday morning? Well, just recently Food Tank

was held at NYU in New York City and there were some amazing people on stage talking about food justice in our society but also about eliminating food waste by using the whole plant or animal when cooking. Well, maybe just check out their Youtube channel and watch Dan Barber talk about some of this and get your mind blown away. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQMIV-sRG5w&t=1992s

Those looking to join me in the Nutrition Lab for a Thursday evening, openings are available in Feb-May.

Take a peak. Here is the link:

Always with a Green Thumb,

Mr. Hank
